The Sundial

The Sundial is an artistic production group run by Drew McIntosh, based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. We want to find the common things that make us human, experience the reaches of the world and grow as people and artists. We work with others to create and communicate new ideas and new expressions.

Drew was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. Growing up in the City of Champions in the 1980’s had a great impact on his life. He understands the virtues of hard work and determination, and is unaffected by adverse weather.

As a documentary filmmaker, Drew is busy. In the summer of 2006, he led a team to Peru to capture adventure and excitement for a mixed medium documentary video project combining the asthetics of still and motion images.

The summer of 2007 brought another great challenge; documenting Canada's changing North with friends and artists from Canada and the USA.

In december 2007, Drew, along with designer/audio engineer Bryan Kulba accompanied Edmonton indie rockers 7and7is, on their ground breaking tour of Cuba.

Drew founded Solidarity Rock, a group which works to bring musical opportunity to Cuban rockers. Through a series of fundraising concerts, Solidarity Rock brought a recording setup consisting of Laptop computer, recording interface, microphones, cables and more. With the video camera that Drew sent them, the Cuban group Rock Solidario has made and is regularily presenting videos of their bandsand bands from around the world.

Drew likes to go places and has been across Canada, the United States, Greece, Peru, Cuba and through parts of Mexico and the Caribbean. He hopes to use video as a means of capturing the extraordinary moments in life, as well as the mundane.

Drew lives in beautiful downtown Edmonton. He likes records, people and non-fiction bestsellers.
